Joshua Higginson

I am a Marketing Major looking for a sales position involving business to consumer transactions. At age 9 I began working for my parents concession business. We traveled from fair to fair selling food. This was a start up business for my parents thus throughout the years as my parents learned how to build a successful business I was along side them. This work experience taught me how to interact with customers and businesses in a professional manner. The work experience also conditioned me to a hard days work, by age 16 I worked 60 hours per week.

Throughout college I have worked for Grand Geneva Resort as a bartender, cashier, server, and busser. Working as a busser taught me a lot about myself. I don't like working as a busser because you have no control over your tips. At the end of the night the servers tip out the busser a percentage of their tips. This means when I work as a busser my performance does not directly matter in obtaining my tip. Instead how well the servers treat their tables affects my tip.

My previous work experience has helped me to narrow my job career search. I believe a sales position with a commission is best suited for myself. I believe this because in order to stay motivated I need the reward of a commission. I like the idea of working hard and making more money as a benefit.
