When people first think about Texas, technology is not the first though that comes to mind. But I love it. Usually, it is oil, gas, cowboys, horses, big hats and BBQ. But that isn't me. I have "pulled myself up by my bootstraps" to break into the tech world. I am driven by success. Many people are money motivated, many people are comfort motivated - I am success motivated. I want to conquer my goals.
I'm also team focused. One of the highlights of my career was creating a sales team that allowed three friends to get promotions and/or spend more time with their families. Allowing them to be more successful in their professional and personal lives is success for me. The team we put together is also driving average margin per sale from 50% to 70%. We have expanded from 1 sales rep (Me!) to 11 sales reps in 6 months.
I want to build platforms that people will love! Transitioning from sales to product management will allow me to do that. Successfully transitioning from sales to product management require my experience understanding the competitive market, identifying unique customer pains, collaborating with each department (similar to when I worked with legal, accounting, and operations for our direct sales team), and establishing strategic innovation to increase market share.
