Joshua began his entertainment career as a stage and film actor at the age of 12, when he walked into an audition for the Eugene O' Neill play " Ah, Wilderness!" at a local playhouse in Northern California and walked out with the starring role of 17-year-old Richard Miller. For the next decade, he worked steadily and amassed a varied and impressive resume. His credits include the critically acclaimed stage version of “A Few Good Men”, in which he played military lawyer Lieutenant Daniel Kaffee. Mr. Porter also appeared in several California commercials and was featured in the General Motors 2001 ad campaign "Then and Wow!", published in national and international magazines such as TIME, NEWSWEEK, and COUNTRY LIVING. His passion for film led him to attend the New York Film Academy (Universal Studios) to study Directing and Producing. There, he produced and directed several short films, along with producing shorts for associates at the University of Southern California. Since graduating from the New York Film Academy in 2005, Joshua has directed, produced and written several films including: “Garden of the Disappeared”, “Hatched”, “CASA: A Voice of Hope” , “Road to Red” , “In the Eyes of a Killer”, a multi-media theatrical/movie hybrid of “Dracula,” as well as several commercials. In 2011, he directed and produced the award winning short “Yeller” (Sacramento Film & Music Festival-Best Film). Josh directed the music video “Lengua de la Muerte” in 2012 for San Francisco rock band, The Illness, which has been featured on the music television website Cull.tv, YouTube, and appeared on “The Public File”, a news and notes radio program broadcast throughout California. He recently wrapped production on the mystery/drama “August Falls” and is in pre-production on the feature films “To Find A Monster” and the sports family drama “The First Out”, both of which he will be directing.
