Joshua Gonzalez
Documentary Filmmaker in Austin, Texas, United States
Hola! My name is Joshua Gonzalez, and I am from San Antonio, Texas. Currently, I am in my third year studying Radio-Television-Film and Mexican-American Studies at The University of Texas At Austin.
Apart from being a good person and a benefit to society, my ultimate goal in life is to help tell the stories of marginalized people, and push for more authentic and responsible representations of minorities in media. A true millennial, I am very passionate about social justice.
Austin is such a unique and interesting place to live, and I really want to make the most of my time here. I am working as a producer on The 5 Year, my second feature as a producer with local independent production company, Twitchy Dolphin. Additionally, I am the current president of the UT Austin Chapter of Delta Kappa Alpha, the only National Professional Co-Ed Cinematic Arts Fraternity.
I have such a passion for film, and really all things visually intriguing. Die-hard Project Runway fan and GQ subscriber, I am in love with fashion and design. Although it may not be my main focus, my spare time is spent reading fashion blogs, thrift shopping, and thinking of new silhouettes I can pull out of my closet (which is aided much by the fact that I work part time at Urban Outfitters.) Whether its fashion, film, or learning more about my heritage, I am interested in all aspects of producing and developing quality content.
I feel like since I started college, my life hasn't really found a resting place- and thats a good thing. I am constantly faced with new challenges, new people, and consequently new skills that I can use to better prepare for my future. Although I don't have a traditional career path ahead of me, I look forward to each new possibility. In the words of Leslie Knope, "Clear Eyes, Full Hearts. Cant Lose."
