Engineer and Student in Sydney, Australia
After spending time abroad and working across industries from education to technical writing, I'm now working towards starting a career in my real passion - engineering. I am looking for the opportunity to utilise my skills and experiences, leveraging my signal processing knowledge in designing software solutions.
I'm currently attending the University of New South Wales to complete a Masters degree in Engineering Science (Signal Processing) to complement my undergraduate degree in Electrical Engineering from Colorado State University (USA). I have designed algorithms in Matlab and C to filter both audio and image files, and studied various filter design techniques. I have also taken courses in satellite navigation and mobile/satellite communication networks to further my knowledge of communication networks.
Previously, I taught myself Python for personal scripting uses, exploring the various modules available such as pandas, NumPy, and SciPy. I have experience creating and testing VBA macros for Microsoft Word and Excel, extending the functionality of existing customizations.
I'm interested in the potential applications and benefits of Signal Processing in modern technology, from smart phones to telecommunication networks. I find applications such as Microsoft's HoloLens and the advancements in voice recognition via Google Now, Cortana, and Siri especially fascinating.
