Joshua Montross

Software Engineer in Seattle, Washington

About Me

As a seasoned leader with a passion for driving innovation and excellence in technology, I am based in Seattle but frequently spend time in Iowa, Texas, and California, depending on the season and my professional commitments. During the summer, I find inspiration in the Pacific Northwest and Northern Italy, while in the winter, I enjoy the vibrant climates of Southern California, Hawaii, and the adventure of skiing in fresh powder or relaxing in Mexico.

Education

I hold a BBA in Finance and Information Systems with a minor in Spanish from George Washington University, which has equipped me with a strong foundation in financial analysis, a multicultural perspective, and the fundamentals of software. I also hold an MS in Information Systems Development with a Chief Information Officer certificate from GWU, providing me with a high-level understanding of designing and implementing processes at an enterprise level.

My Interests

I am dedicated to leading teams in the development of cutting-edge software, products, and services, with a focus on skillful execution. My interests include exploring the lives of historical figures in American history, such as George Washington, Benjamin Franklin, Tesla, Edison, Abraham Lincoln, and John D. Rockefeller.

I have a deep appreciation for history, particularly military history and the evolution of enduring institutions. My personal and professional development is guided by literature and practices centered on integral theory and authentic servant leadership. Additionally, I am passionate about ancient literature, art, and outdoor activities such as skiing, hiking, swimming, and biking. I also enjoy working on home improvement projects.

While I currently thrive as a software engineer, I am committed to growing my leadership skills with the long-term ambition of transitioning into roles such as a CIO or similar executive positions. My experience and interests align with leading teams to success through creating robust infrastructure and processes, with a strong emphasis on systems design, infrastructure as code, and AWS, utilizing high-level languages such as Python and Ruby.
