Joshua M. Nahum

Hello. I am a graduate of Brandeis University and Georgetown University Law Center and have spent several years in private practice as an associate with a large law firm. Currently, I am seeking a legal position in which I can take on a more active role advocating on behalf of clients.

My work experience has given me a broad array of skills and expertise. I drafted a motion to dismiss in a securities fraud class action case. The brief raised novel arguments that ultimately persuaded the court to dismiss the claims against our client. I have also had experience in the employment law context representing a client against a discrimination suit. In that case I oversaw electronic discovery and took part in depositions that were severely damaging to the plaintiff's case. I have also represented a class of plaintiffs seeking to enforce contractual rights against a former employer. There, I drafted successful briefing opposing defendants' motion to dismiss and met with plaintiffs and witnesses to discuss the theories of the case and the various documents discovered, prepare the witnesses for depositions, and address general concerns raised by the clients. In other areas, I worked on appellate litigation seeking disclosure of Federal Reserve lending practices under FOIA. I researched and drafted portions of successful appellate briefing supporting the lower court decision, and further successful briefing opposing certiorari in the United States Supreme Court.

Additionally, I took on with other associates, significant pro bono representations. I represented an indigent defendant accused with federal narcotics crimes through an ultimate plea and sentencing. In the civil realm, I worked on the defense of a county election commissioner accused of violating a variety of election rules related to the validity of absentee ballots. I assisted in the drafting of briefing explaining the validity of the ballots and participated in a moot court to prepare another associate for oral argument. Ultimately, the court accepted our client's position and the case was favorably resolved.

Moving forward I seek to further my skills and expertise by taking on greater and sustained responsibility for the matters on which I work. For more information about my background and experiences, please see my LinkedIn profile using the link below.
