Elman Nsinda
Independent Journalist and Advocate in Kampala, Uganda
A Journalist in Uganda, a strong advocate for women's and Children's Rights especially health. Has been involved in safe motherhood campaigns, advocacy, across the Country to ensure that needless deaths of mothers and newborns are prevented.
Elman is also a citizen journalist, and White Ribbon Alliance volunteer with a special focus on maternal health.
He has produced several articles and blogs on maternal health and has influenced several media houses to give air time to White Ribbon Alliance Uganda and other Maternal health focused Organizations in a bid to create awareness and promote advocacy with an aim to hold leaders accountable for their promises made for Reproductive, Maternal, Newborn, Child and Adolescents Health.
He is one of the 100 Younger Leaders of the decade ranked by Women Deliver in 2013.
In May 2013, Elman served as the Chairman of Uganda Country Caucus at the 3rd Global Women Deliver Conference in Kuala Rumpur Malaysia -one of the largest annual gatherings of policymakers, advocates, Civil Society and researchers focused exclusively on women’s health and empowerment.
He along with other colleagues produced citizens’ voices video during the Inter-Parliamentary Union Assembly in Uganda. Click here to watch the video clips, more here.
Recently he supported the Policy advocacy on UN Lifesaving commodities-newborn resuscitation devices campaign where because of this campaign government passed a policy for streamlined procurement, supply and distribution of newborn resuscitation devices to health facilities so that health workers could fight asphyxia. He trains and leads a team of Citizen Journalists who act as citizen voices in the country. In September 2016, he represented Uganda citizens at United Nations General Assembly in New York.
