Love of God, life, and family!

I am a retired Army Veteran and former Chief Operations Officer for a Real Estate Appraisal & Management Group. I have a Bachelors in Communication, and my Master studies in Psychology. With my husband, we are parents of five and grandparents of six and one on the way.

I am a Independent Family Historian and Genealogist has a combined 40 years of service in the areas of history, genealogy, communications, and marketing. My historical and genealogical research is on my family movements from Virginia to Canada, Liberia to Kentucky and Kansas; during the 18th through the 20th centuries. My continued goal is to bring alive the stories of achievements and legacies that our ancestors left for the present and future generations.

Of late I have presented some of my research to the Middle Potomac History Researchers at the Josephine School Community Museum in Berryville, Virginia.
Presented before the AAHGS 2015 Convention in Richmond, VA. I also have recorded the "Hatter Journey" posted on my website.

She also recorded her research on the Hatter family for E-Learning- Presentations for American Public University System.

I have written my first book "Yes We Remember" A historical novel based on the events of the time, historical records, and family stories of our ancestors and how the struggles, adventures, and travels of 4 families culminated on a ranch in Cherry County Nebraska.

Currently, I am a contributing writer for http://www.blackpast.org/contributor/gray-joyceann

Joyceann’s personal quote is:

“You cannot know where you are going until you know who you are, you cannot know who you are until you know who came before… It is only then you will find your true direction and true reason for being.”
