Joyce E. Davis
Atlanta
If I'm not communicating, I'm not awake. Before blogging even existed, I was blowing up my friends' email accounts with a weekly journal of news, culture and job opportunities. At my core, I'm a born networker, passionate storyteller, news junkie, and social media enthusiast. I'm proud of my accomplishments - twenty years of writing and editing consumer magazines; co-founding a cultural / literary public relations firm; publishing a book and short stories; developing Fierce for Black Women's social media platforms; leading the integrated marketing campaign to announce the new president of Spelman College; transitioning Spelman's printed newsletter to an award-winning interactive digital publication; and recently exposing the pervasive ills of sex-trafficking in an Ebony magazine investigation.
I'm probably what they call a tiger mom, as my most important and rewarding responsibility is being a parent, which I work hard at and revel in daily. I'm interested in social justice, education, and issues related to women, girls and the African Diaspora. I live for the stimulation I derive from creative expression, thoughtful writing and mentoring. I adore Atlanta, satisfying music, a good sermon, power walking, hot weather, Mexican food, sweet tea and my brother's peach cobbler.
