Hello! My name is Joyce Jefferson and I've been writing ever since I could remember. As self-proclaimed “Southern Culturalist”, I have published a variety of written work (consisting of mostly short stories and poems) on my favorite topics on the American South (in particular Florida and Louisiana), Latin America (mostly Puerto Rico, the Caribbean & Mexico), foodways, and Latin American and Southern Cultural connections.

In my free time (when I do have some), I can be found glued to my laptop doing webpages, surfing social media sites, doing fan pages, reading, taking photos, traveling, cooking, reading, listening to music, spending time with family and friends, and doing research on my favorite topics. Online, I am founder of ASouthernWriter.com, MySouthernKitchen.com, and other websites, fansites, blogs, and social media accounts on the web.

Personal I love languages (Spanish mostly) and cultures, writing, reading, traveling, cooking, photography, computers, the Internet, technology, movies, music, alternative radio and media, holistic/organic health & living, meeting new people, among other activities.

I am currently pursuing a BA degree in technical writing and Latin American Studies from the University of Central Florida (Go Knights!) and a minor in Mass Communications (emphasis on online media and social media).
