Joy Cook

As a publicist, public relations consultant, and personality, the former Plus size model, Joy Cook has established herself as a permanent fixture among the most diverse of networks. Joy got an early start in the entertainment when at age 8, Joy and her sister starred in a missing children's commercial for WTVD in Durham, NC. Since that time television, radio, and various facets of entertainment have been in her life. Joy completed her education, earning a BA in Communication Studies and Sociology from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro in 2005. After a string of positions with the hottest radio stations in the market and an internship at one of the highest ranked radio stations in the southeast, WJMH 102.1 FM JAMZ, by graduation, Joy was a PR powerhouse ready for the next step. It would not be long before Joy would find herself in the tightly guarded circles of some of entertainment's royalty. In 2008, Joy Cook's expertise was a vital part of the Americana Groups partnership with Ciroc Vodka and the Blake Hotel for the Exceeding Expectations Celebrity Extravaganza, as Vice President of Public Relations, where she built and developed an entertainment sector for the company. Joy became a trusted authority in the sports arena by assisting the Americana Group in handling heavyweight events, including Charlotte Bobcats, PGA golf tournament, ACC tournament, and CIAA. Joy has placed herself as one of North Carolina's most beloved PR consultants. Joy's experience has made her a favorite among companies for strategic PR plans to introduce new artists to target markets and tailor images. In 2008, Joy Cook wrote one of the first Press Releases for the NY Times featured, Full Figured Fashion week, and a first in the fashion industry. Joy Cook resides in North Carolina with her daughter and is the president and CEO of Joy Cook Public Relations Group, an entertainment and public relations, publicity, and management firm. Currently, Joy is in charge of all PR for the Americana Group, a primary Food Service Vendor for //the PGA Golf championships. Joy is currently, the Marketing and Digital Engagement Coordinator, at The Volunteer Center of Greensboro, who successfully produced the second largest 9/11 commemoration in the nation.
