Joy Stember was born in Melrose Park, PA. Her parents encouraged her from a young age to pursue the arts. Her father, a talented fine jewelry designer, was her mentor and she was his apprentice. Joy attended Tyler School of Art, Temple University, in Elkins Park, PA where she received her Bachelor of Fine Arts in Metals/Jewelry/CAD-CAM. She continued her education with summer workshops at Penland School of Crafts, Haystack Mountain School of Crafts and Arrowmont School of Arts and Crafts. After graduation, Joy established the Metal Arts Studio. She has been included in national competitions and publications such as: Lark Books’ 500 Metal Vessels and 500 Judaica. Her work is sold in galleries all over the country and is sought after by private collectors. Joy was a 2008 Rio Grande Saul Bell Design Awards Finalist and a 2010 & 2011 NICHE Awards Finalist. Currently, Joy is working in the Studio, where she is completing a collection of Fine Modern Judaica and Objects for the Home in pewter, brass and silver.
