I currently work on the Lesson Wrangling team at Curious.com. Curious is a marketplace for lifelong learning that seeks to make high quality lessons in both academic and non-academic subjects engaging, fun, and accessible to students of all ages. Teachers are given the tools to engage with students and earn money from their lessons. In my role, I find, prospect, and close new teacher accounts, helping to grow our collection of lessons into the thousands.
Previously I spent two years as a fundraiser at Davidson College, raising money for athletics and helping Davidson reach over 60% alumni giving participation (tops in the country). As a side project I reached out to the founder of ReKixx, a company that makes 100% recyclable sneakers, after they were featured on ABC’s Shark Tank. I developed a business plan used to raise ReKixx’s first outside capital. Additionally, I founded and grew a soccer personal training business called Hat Trick Soccer Academy. Prior to that I managed a team of four book-buyers on Davidson’s campus where we bought back over $40,000 worth of student textbooks. I personally was the third highest grossing buyer in the country out of over 2,150 buyers.
I am enthusiastic about tech startups, early-stage venture capital firms, and their ability to disrupt the status quo. I blog (mostly) about these topics at StealthModeStuff.tumblr.com.
