Rebecca McKenzie

Rebecca brings to JPC a passion that is very important to her, a desire to help her own people straighten out their lives. As well as her personal connection, Rebecca’s education and work experience also give her a great combination of skills to ensure success in her role as Murri Court Coordinator. Her key responsibilities in her role at JPC are to ensure court documents are prepared and provided to the Magistrate upon sentencing, cultural reports are conducted and prepared, as well as linking offenders to programs and services within the community.

With qualifications, Diploma of Management and Diploma of Business, Rebecca’s study lends itself extremely well to her position. Rebecca is furthering her knowledge and is currently studying Advanced Diploma of Business.

Rebecca has held a variety of work roles, from retail to nursing and administration. These roles have given her management and organisational skills, and also the ability to effectively deal with people, communicate in sensitive environments and show respect and empathy to clients.

Looking for every opportunity to help people Rebecca has also held a number of voluntary positions, such as sport coaching, fundraising and hospitality. Since 2012 she has also volunteered within the Brisbane Murri Courts, here she had been involved in administration tasks, research projects, and was able to view various court proceedings. This voluntary experience further cements her ability in her role as Murri Court Coordinator at JPC.

Inspired by the Elders within the Brisbane Community Justice Group, Rebecca has recognised how these people go out of their way to give others their knowledge and life skills, yet asking very little in return. She hopes that with their guidance and being able to acquire their knowledge, she will become as empowering and helpful to others later in life.
