I am just about to join the ranks of the Medicare group, turning 65 in just a few short months. I started blogging publicly a while ago out of curiosity, attempting to write about things that were issues for me; my past relationships with my mother and two husbands, my brothers’ battle with alcoholism, and the struggles I had with retirement. I grew tired of my “woe is me” blogging and wondered why anyone would really want to read more about pain when everyone has enough of their own. Was my attempt to work through my problems going to be someone else’s answer? Maybe but probably not. Then, I started a blog about days with my grandson. The goal of this one was and still is to be a keepsake for him someday. It is about totally fun and funny adventures that the two of us have together and it got me thinking. What I enjoy writing about, more than anything, are those things in this life that just make you smile.I’ve been sharing simple things on my personal Facebook page along with photos that I have taken from a beautiful nature preserve that just happens to be my back yard right now. It was the combination of a desire to make people smile and to keep it simple so that people would take the time to read it that the idea for S.M.I.L.E. – Simple Messages In Life’s Eye came to be. I’m on a mission, now, to find those things that bring joy or laughter to life. I don’t want to write a novel. I, also, have realized that I don’t care that much about earning money through writing. I just want to share joy and positive motivation for loving the simple things in life. And so, this blog site was born. I hope you love it as much as I love sharing it.
