Dog-Sitter, Dog-Walker, and Entrepreneur in Smithtown, New York
Julia Quadrino is a 26-year-old entrepreneur looking to turn a local dog care business into a lifetime, sustainable income. She graduated Magna Cum Laude from the Stony Brook University College of Business and was the recipient of the Outstanding Achievement in Entrepreneurship Award at her graduation ceremony in May 2017. QD Care was founded in 2015 with one goal in mind: improve the quality of life for as many pups as possible—making it the absolute best choice of care for your dog!
Growing up, Julia watched countless dog care “professionals” consistently mistreat her beloved childhood dog, QD. It has since been Julia’s mission to improve the lives of as many dog’s as possible in QD’s memory.
Following QD’s passing, Julia began fostering dogs for men and women of the military who were being deployed without a place for their dog to stay. It was during this experience, in which she watched fearful dogs confused as to where their owners went begin to trust and love her, that she realized showing dogs the power of love while their owners are away is how she wants to spend her life.
In Spring 2017, QD Care became incorporated and legally recognized as a professional pet sitting business registered under Pet Sitters International and is bonded and insured by Pet Sitters Associates. QD Care was awarded Best on Long Island for the "Dog Walker" category of Bethpage Federal Credit Union's Best of LI 2021 contest.
Her previous experience in dog care includes volunteering as a dog walker at North Shore Animal League and as a kennel worker at the Smithtown Guide Dog Foundation. Additionally, she has shadowed at Rocky Point Vet to further educate herself in the proper administration of multiple types of medications and basic dog care procedures. On top of all of this, she has been dog-sitting for vacationing neighbors since she was 10.
