John Rownd

Hi! My name is John Rownd and I am a freshman at The Ohio State University.

My top 5 StrengthsQuest Strengths are: WOO, Competitive, Communication, Positivity, and Adaptability. I was surprised that WOO was my first, although I am very good with people. That is also one reason why I expected my first strength to be communication. I knew just about everyone at my high school, which had about 1,600 people. I can always have a conversation with anyone, whether I've known them for years or months, or even minutes.

My favorite Ohio State tradition is definitely Carmen Ohio, which is a part of my favorite thing to do at Ohio State, which is watch the Buckeye Football games. The way the whole stadium unites at once is magical. I have been an Ohio State fan for life, so that moment is beautiful for me, on top of being at my favorite team's game.

Some things I have learned through my first year so far are that studying is important. I never had to study through high school, so it has been an adjustment. Also, I have learned that there are 10,000 other people in the same position as me, being first year students at a HUGE university, so there will never be a shortage of friends, and help. Also, office hours are very good, not only for help, but for creating a relationship with professors and TAs.
