I've been in the book business for over 30 years. What started as a summer job in High School turned into part-time work through College and a career in a constantly changing industry was born! Having started in "grown-up books," with authors like Shirley Conran, Jackie Collins, Judge Wapner, Derek Taylor, Julie Nixon Eisenhower among a few, I turned my attention to kids books. Could it be because they were easier to read or maybe because it was a challenge and harder to get publicity for, or maybe because I felt in some way I was making a difference getting kids to read. Either way, (although I still dabble in "grown-up books"), my area of expertise falls into the kids biz. One would think after all these years I would get tired of it...or grow up, but with each book that lands on my desk I am filled with excitement about the possibilities. Having had the thrill of working with Richard Scarry, Mike Berenstain, Anita Lobel, Mercer Mayer, Hilary Knight, Sam McBratney, Julie Andrews and Emma Walton Hamilton, Susanna Reich, Gary Golio, Ed Young and most recently Michelle Nelson-Schmidt, Victoria Kann and Dan Gutman my enthusiasm for what I do hasn't diminshed...it just keeps getting better! Everyone should be as lucky as I am to be able to do what they love to do!
