I am an Assistant Professor with the School of Nursing at York University. My clinical background includes Public and Community Health Nursing. Clinical expertise includes family health and home visiting nursing, mental health promotion, community engagement, advocacy, and development. My program of research focuses on improving the mental health of socio-economically disadvantaged youth and adults. My program of research addresses 3 foci: 1) the connection between neighbourhoods and people's mental health; 2) community-informed mental health interventions; and 3) policy analysis and evaluation. I have been teaching (under)graduate nursing students since 2004 and I currently teach nursing research, community health nursing, and nursing theory/philosophy. I have taught graduate and undergraduate level courses, both on-line and in the traditional format, and am adept at engaging students in practical ways with whatever course content I teach.
