I am currently a post-doctoral research engineer at the Université de Rennes 1 in France, pursuing research in medical image processing. Previously, I was a Ph.D. student at Western University in Biomedical Engineering and worked at Robarts Research Institute at the University of Western Ontario as a research programmer, developing systems for computer-assisted medical interventions, using augmented reality, GPGPU computing, and artificial intelligence.

My passion is for cognitive science and the exploration into knowledge: both how it can be represented, and how it can be used. During my undergrad, I worked with a professor looking into multi-brain systems, and how social knowledge is constructed and maintained by interacting recurrent neural networks. My Ph.D. thesis involved incorporating methods of structuring knowledge into medical image segmentation. This knowledge included basic topological and geometrical information such as connectivity and inclusion amongst multiple objects.

In my spare time, I am an avid reader of philosophy, fiction, and non-fiction. I enjoy taking an analytical look at all three, and understand how people use and abuse language differently to communicate their message.
