It was always questionable that I was the biggest Ohio State fan, even though I grew up in Rockville, Maryland, right outside of D.C. especially because now I go to the University of Georgia.
Since the day I was born, my Dad raised me to be an Ohio State fan. Every chance that he got, he dressed me in OSU clothes, bought me Brutus the Buckeye toys, and forced me to watch OSU football games with him. Every picture of me from day 1 to when I was 11 years old, I would be seen with some sort of Ohio State accessory.
Although this might make me seem like a bandwagon, it was acceptable because not only did my Dad attend Ohio State. I have multiple cousins that go there, multiple Aunts and Uncles that went there, and even my Grandfather and Great-Grandfather attended Ohio State.
I have always been a lucky charm for Ohio State, as I have never been to a game when they lose. As I got older I started to realize that I wasn't only a fan of the football team, but I really wanted to go to the school. My Dad and I developed a tradition where I would take a picture under a “Future Buckeyes” banner every time we went to a game.
As college decision time came around, I applied to several other schools, but Ohio State was easily my number one. Unfortunately, I ended up getting waitlisted, and was extremely shocked. I was accepted to other schools considered harder to get into like Georgia and Wisconsin, and I knew multiple people that I believed should not have gotten in as opposed to me.
Once I got over this horrible news, I made the best decision of my life and committed to the University of Georgia. My family was extremely proud of me and I have had the best time of my life here. I joined a fraternity, met so many lifelong friends, and succeeded in gaining my goal GPA for the first semester. After Georgia beat Ohio State over the new year, I found lots of amusement making fun of my family and friends (especially my Dad) and was so glad to experience winning a national championship this past weekend.
