I am like probably most people reading my blog …. We LUV, LUV, LUV to decorate, craft and attack the next project on our NEVER-ENDING project list. But alas, we have to go to work to support our craft and decorating addictions. I’ve always said it and I always will – work is SUCH an intrusion on my fun time!!!
So the reason for starting a blog, and whatever happens as a result of it, is we can all do the things we want to do – woodworking, sewing, painting, crafting, yada yada… We just need someone to show us how. Then, the sky's the limit. A little bit of success breeds inspiration and confidence!!!
Most of us learn by doing something ourselves. So, basically, that means we can read all the books in the world about how to re-wire a lamp and it means nothing to us. But show us how to do it and we’re all over it! And more!!!! Then we’re saying to ourselves “crown molding???...how hard can it be???" My 50weekends ofcreativity.com blog/ business is about inspired people figuring out they really can fulfill their crafty aspirations. They just done know it yet!
I have lived my adult years along the philosophy of “How hard can it be???” Or I’ll see something in a store, give it a good once-over and think to myself “Are they crazy??, I can make that myself for a lot less!” Like so many others, I was born with the talents I didn’t know I had until I wanted something. There were soooooooo many things I wanted to do to my house or yard or to sew or whatever but just couldn’t spend the money someone wanted to charge me to get it done. To this day I can’t pay someone to clean my house because I can do it myself for free. But who am I kidding…it just doesn’t get cleaned!! You will see a recurring theme in this blog, so I'll confess it up front and just get it over with – I’m cheap, frugal, pinch-penny!! Call it what you want but I have NO problem spending 20 bucks on gas and hours of precious time just to find a great deal. It’s all about the hunt and the bargain. My ‘significant other’, hey Honey, tells me not to tell people of my great deals, just let them think it cost a fortune!! I tell him – my peeps will totally understand and be just as thrilled as I was at my latest score. It’s a badge of honor to pay next to nothing for something!! Part of the thrill is seeing the expression on peoples’ faces and receiving a congratulatory “Shut up girlfriend!!”
So, I say to you tak
