Jess Storie

Midwest

I was born in a small, semi-rural Indiana town in the mid-eighties. My childhood doesn't belong in this bio, and my adolescence was pretty normal (them Indiana boys on them Indiana nights). My early twenties were quite unremarkable to anyone who wasn't me.

Nowadays, life is fairly quiet. I'm a parent, I own a small business that's in the black more often than not. I'm looking into expanding my skills and knowledge so I can entire another nice market.
I've acquired some less-common hobbies to go with my common hobbies. More common: reading, sleeping, following fashion, watching the occasional TV show, talking too much with other people, enjoying the feeling of my body becoming stronger and more capable (aka 'getting in shape).

I have many ambitions, most of them are still ambitions due to lack of funds. I do plan to at least dabble in the following; making handmade (indie) cosmetics, soaps, perfumes, lotions, and oils, finish a novel-length something that I can personally take pride in, and becoming a more competent seamstress, so I can make better clothing for myself, and others.

I currently run a cosmetics-related blog named Calligraffitied. I just picked the domain for a fashion and clothing related blog as well, I'm working on getting that up and running.

I have one cat, currently, and am a big fan of both cats and dogs.

As for my uncommon hobbies, they all seem to revolve around colors. I absolutely love colors. Anything that allows me to use, wear, and otherwise mess with them draws me like a moth to a flame. My love of fountain-and-glass-dip-pens stems from the seemingly endless range of ink colors available for those pens. While indie cosmetics have many positives, such as mid-to-high-end quality for drugstore prices, having larger selections that are cruelty free, and having larger selections that are vegan*, the main reason I adore indie cosmetics is simply because of the colors. One small store often offers more range in color than you'll fine in an entire drugstore. A nice side-effect of being self-employed, and working from home, is being able to dye my hair gorgeous colors as well.

*I am not vegan. However, when it comes to things I consider luxuries, such as cosmetics, I always avoid animal testing when possible, and often buy vegan as well.
