J.Todd Smith

Todd is the CEO of Oxen, a food cetification and technology systems holding company enabling the next generation of hyperlocal, sustainable, and transparent agriculture through its farm-to-consumer subsidiary Maryland Table.

Prior to co-founding Oxen, Todd co-founded Gratio Capital, an investment advisor that developed a patented method of investor-directed philanthropic giving. Gratio also launched the Values Fund, a socially responsible mutual fund that garnered a top Morning Star rating and a top Wall Street Journal ranking (1 out of 760) on its way to outpacing the performance of most of the world's largest mid-cap value mutual funds.

Todd moved on to found The Longitude, a social innovation consulting, branding and venture creation firm. During his time at The Longitude, BloombergBusinessweek named Todd and his team "America's Most Promising Social Entrepreneurs" for their launch of Hello Rewind. The innovation was created to employ and re-train former sex trafficking survivors and to drive awareness of sex trafficking through the development of unique and sustainable consumer retail products.

In 2010 spurred by the problems in our national and local food systems, Todd began focusing full-time on the agriculture space.

He is an alumnus of the University of Delaware and he serves on the board of directors of StartingBloc, an organization dedicated to educating, inspiring, and connecting emerging leaders to drive impact across social sectors.
