Juan Carlos Barahona, PhD

Juan Carlos Barahona is a professor of Management of Technology and Innovation at INCAE the leading Business School in Latin America. He was previously a researcher at the MIT Media Lab. He received his Ph.D. from MIT for his work with Alex `Sandy’ Pentland, director of MIT’s Human Dynamics Laboratory and the MIT Media Lab Entrepreneurship Program and one of the seven most powerful data scientists in the world named by Forbes in 2012.

Previously, Dr. Barahona was Deputy Director of the Latin American Centre for Competitiveness and Sustainable Development and project leader for customs reform in Central America as part of a joint research-action initiative of Harvard's Centre for International Development, Harvard Business School's Centre of Strategy and Competition, and INCAE.

Dr. Barahona research is focused on the role of technology and social structure in promoting change and innovation.

He has consulted governments and companies in several Latin American and Caribbean countries, served as board member and is founding president of Sociometrika, a consulting firm that uses sociometric tools and concepts to drive innovation and productivity.
