Juan-Carlos Gonzalez is a Visual Interdisciplinary & community artist who uses mixed media in painting, murals, art installations & experiences in creative processes to further expand his knowledge and wisdom in various areas regarding the human condition through the lenses of visual and creative expression.

Gonzalez is interested in infusing his Mexican-American Abstract style in painting celebrating in the spirit of his ancestors and his indigenous origin with a contemporary queer sensibility. Gonzalez likes to channel his passion for human rights & freedom of creative expression in the farm worker community of East Salinas and shape his ideas through community arts works, murals, oil painting on canvas, examining concepts via un-conventional use of color, symbols, environments, and visual design and how he can mutate them to express these aesthetic movements and human rights concerns in the creative expression.

Besides the studio work Juan-Carlos spends time developing community arts operatives with Urban and Graffiti artists as a healthy ingredient of community social transformation; to increase visibility and opportunities for young artist voices and the creation of safes spaces for creative expression. JC focuses on the development of the community arts with dignity, respect of perspectives, sensitivity and compassion.

Juan-Carlos attended San Diego State University, where he graduated with a degree in Liberal Arts and Sciences Arts with an emphasis in Studio Arts.

JC is currently attending California Institute of Integral Studies in San Francisco, completing his Master's Degree in Creative Inquiry and will graduate in the fall of 2013.
