Juanita Naidoo Rea

South Africa, Durban

I started teaching in 2000 and love learning with kids. However, in 2009, my first hand experience of Typhoon Ondoy in the Philippines natural led me to question whether I was serving my purpose fully. That year my Grade One class decided that community gardening was a solution to the natural disasters, which they believed were messages from the earth, reminding us to reconnect to ourselves and each other. Their mantra-We Are All One empowered me to fearlessly follow my dreams. I left my former life and founded eduSOIL to address the limited access to inquiry-based tools that shift restrictive mind-sets and develop universal, heart-centred intelligence. I designed Meditative Enquiry®, the integration of secular meditation techniques and guided inquiry processes that is a collation of tools that enabled me to heal from childhood trauma , liberate my free-spirited nature and realise that by cultivating our innate awareness, we can all transcend suffering. eduSOIL infuses existing education systems and engages at risk communities in transformative experiences, employing innovative resources, interventions and courses that nurture metacognition, self-compassion, empathy and cultivate our innate awareness of Oneness.
