Jugal Makwana is a civil engineering graduate from CEPT University, His graduation desertion was focused on ‘Life Cycle Cost Analysis’ of infrastructure projects as a decision tool for delivering sustainable infrastructure. He has worked for 4 years under Dr.L.R.Kadiyali guidance as a Design Engineer during which he designed several road and rail projects in India. In this role he specialised in the use of MXRoad and Rail design system and applied it for feasibility and detail design planning of over 400 km of route length. He also participated in World Bank funded project for condition survey and analysis of existing national highway network of India during which he travelled 2000 km on the network from Goa to Delhi to study various characteristics of the network. In 2002 Jugal joined Infrasoft provider of MXRoad and Rail software as an application engineer to help them localize the software for Indian projects and standards. He was instrumental in inclusion of functionality in MX for integrating design, quantities with the cost analysis and estimation process being adopted by Ministry of Road Transport and Highways in India which was later mandated a standard process of project preparation. InfraSoft was acquired by Bentley Systems in 2003. From 2003 to 2007 as the ‘Industry Sales Director’ he successfully managed and directed the business development and technical sales of Bentley’s civil software in India and surrounding countries and exceeded the targets. He was also directly responsible for managing relationships with key road and rail organizations in India. In 2007 he moved within Bentley to manage the Rail product portfolio globally as the Global Project Manager and is responsible for all strategic and tactical activates for its Track and Overhead Line products, it also includes liaison with rail owner/operators and leading rail consulting organisation s globally for identification of their requirements and bringing the software’s to fruition enabling them to deliver project efficiently. Since 2011 he is also responsible for managing Road product for Asia, Africa and Middle East apart from his global role on Rail product management. Jugal has attended and presented at various Rail, Road conference in India, South Africa, Australia, Middle East, China and UK. Jugal is also member of Permanent Way Institution and Life Member of IRC. He is also a guest faculty at Road and Rail Institutes in India.
