Born in Sydney, Australia, I lived in country towns and bush properties for years. Now I live near the sea - a short walk to the beach and good cafes in town. I work obsessively on my fiction, and my short stories have been published in literary journals and national magazines in Australia, England and USA. My first young adult novel The Midnight Pianist, self-published in 2013 is set in an Australian country town in 1960 - written for young adults but many older readers are getting a big nostalgia hit. Reviews and readers' comments of both novels are on my website: www.juliamaryosborne
I was given an Australian Council for the Arts grant for my first novel, Falling Glass, self-published in 2002 - set in Sydney and on the road in 1991 & referencing the Gulf War.
