In 2010, my family made one of the best decisions that will always make a positive impact on my life: purchasing a house in Margate, New Jersey, also known as the "Jersey Shore.” Margate is the perfect beach town to spend my summers, and the most comfortable environment in the winter. My family and I have a tradition that on the first day of summer we eat pizza at The Greenhouse. This is the best way to kick off our two months we get in our favorite place. Not only are my best memories with my family made in our second home, but I have established the truest friendships on the Jersey Shore. I will never forget the day that I came out of my shell when I was seven years old. I saw a girl that looked around my age playing in the sand, and decided that instead of being shy I would go up to her and ask her to go swimming in the ocean with me. Maddie and I are still as close as ever, and we have Margate to thank for our special summer bond. My shore house is not just limited to the summer time. Every Thanksgiving break, my family and I fly to New Jersey and host a dinner at the house with my grandma. With the strong aroma of turkey and the heat of our fireplace keeping us warm, we definetly have the most memorable Thanksgiving dinners. Over winter break, we spend time in Margate as the snow falls and while the town is quiet, yet as peaceful as ever. Margate is a place where I feel most at home, have the best quality time with my family, and incredible reunions with my “shore” friends.
