Student and Barista in Trelleborg

Hi, I’m Julia. I’m a soon to be 22 year old American/Swede living in a small town called Trelleborg in southern Sweden. I was born in Ann Arbor, Michigan but grew up in Davidson, North Carolina. I moved to Sweden with my family when I was 10 and have been here ever since. Today, I live alone in a small apartment with my Australian Shepherd puppy named Charlie.

I am currently in my second year of studies to become a middle school teacher. When I'm not studying, I enjoy hanging out with family and friends, riding horses, going on long hikes with Charlie or visiting my boyfriend who is away playing hockey on a professional level.

I decided to become a teacher because I have always loved children. It was when I started to hold riding lessons for two young girls and getting to see them develop and become more confident that I felt that teaching was the right career for me.

The reason I chose English as my primary subject is to help students become more confident and educated in one of the world's most important languages and also because English feels like a good way to help me stay connected to my routes and my “home”.
