I grew up in Gloucestershire, went to University of Cambridge (M.A., Ph.D., Sc.D.), followed by a Harkness Fellowship in Philadelphia. Since 1984, I've lived and worked in Glasgow.

The 5 kids and puppy keep me busy; but in my spare time, I dream of skiing.
