Julia Nelson-Gal
San Francisco Bay Area
I am a mixed media artist who uses photography in much of my work. I also explore printmaking, collage and digital media to develop different bodies of work. My works reference the passing of time with a sense of humor and a love of the surreal. I have a studio residency in a city-sponsored artist's community at the Cubberley Center in Palo Alto, California. My work has been seen throughout the United States as well as abroad in Mexico, Italy, Costa Rica, Portugal and England. During the past few years I have participated in an artist's residency at the Jentel Foundation in Wyoming and a year-long residency at the Badè Archaeology Collection in Berkeley. I teach for the Academy of Art University in San Francisco, as well as for the City of Palo Alto.
