Julian Iragorri

New York, NY

Novelist and former Young Fellow of the internationally acclaimed Frick Collection, Julian Iragorri introduced readers to his ability to create complex characters with compelling stories in his debut novel, Differential Equations. Co-authored with Lou Aronica, Mr. Iragorri’s book follows four characters from the modern world, from the 1920s, and from 1985 as their fates intertwine across the years. Julian Iragorri creates characters struggling with their humanity, with love lost, and with tragic circumstances.

As they examine universal truths, Mr. Iragorri’s characters experience magic and find wisdom. The novel opens in 2010 with successful executive Alex Soberano. In his search for a break from his high-powered life, Soberano visits a West Coast ashram for needed respite. Julian Iragorri transports readers to 1928 as he tells the story of psychic Tia Vidente who envisions her death. In 1920, a Bethlehem husband and father named Khaled Hebron leaves it all behind to live in the same town as Vidente. In 1985, young Dro travels from his home in South America to Boston to attend the distinguished Massachusetts Institute of Technology. A mathematical genius with differential equations, Dro practices mastery at the activity described by the author’s title.

Passionate about the arts and active in their preservation, New York City resident Julian Iragorri devoted 15 years to event planning for The Frick Collection in New York City. The efforts of Mr. Iragorri and other philanthropists help preserve the collection of masterpieces by such artists as Whistler and Gainsborough.

As part of Young Fellows with The Frick Collection, Julian Iragorri contributed annual dues and attended such special events as the Fellow’s Lunch with the museum director.
