Julie Payne-Kirchmeier

Dr. Julie Payne-Kirchmeier is a strategic, visionary leader committed to providing students with engaging experiences during their university careers. She is a senior higher education leader with over 25 years of progressively responsible and expansive leadership, supervisory, and budgetary experience across institutional types and functional areas. Consistently called on to lead institution-wide new initiatives based on professional expertise in strategic planning, cross-functional collaboration, student development, assessment, enrollment management, and innovative problem-solving. Dr. Payne-Kirchmeier has a career history of creating and supervising high-performing teams that deliver results for the institution while serving and advocating for students. She is a proven fundraiser, consultant, and speaker for regional and national organizations.
Julie earned her B.S. in Genetics and M.Ed. in Student Affairs Administration in Higher Education from Texas A&M University - College Station, and her Ph.D. in Educational Leadership, Administrations and Foundations from Indiana State University. She currently serves Indiana University as the Inaugural Vice President for Student Success for the full university system, and as a Professor of Practice in the IU Bloomington higher education and student affairs program. Her previous roles were at Northwestern University, Southern Illinois University - Carbondale, University of Southern Indiana, and Lamar University (TX).
