Diagnosed with type 1 diabetes mellitus at the age of two. I've grown up fascinated with nutrition and health.

I created Type1Traveler.org in 2011 while working on a documentary on Type 2 diabetes in Fiji.

Type 1 Traveler has grown from a travel blog to a nutrition and health blog in the hopes of separating science from pseudo science and fad from fact in the world of nutrition and health.

You can find me working in type 2 diabetes prevention at the UCSF Institute for Health and Aging or in a cafe in Berkeley applying to graduate programs in nutrition.
