Julie Carretero works out of New Jersey as an Associate Director for Swiss-based pharmaceutical firm Novartis Pharmaceuticals Corporation. This position allows her to be involved in the health care choices of millions of people every day, a responsibility that Ms. Carretero takes very seriously. It is through this every day involvement with not only her own health but also the health decisions of countless others that Julie Carretero has honed her personal sense of self and accomplishment. Competitive running is a field that requires guts, commitment and dedication, three things that Ms. Julie Carretero is known for. Ms. Carretero is a well-known runner with a distinctive style that puts her ahead of the pack. While Julie’s record for these races is quite extensive, her record for 2007 consisted of three races. She began with a classic New England race, the Yankee Homecoming 5K, which took place in Newburyport, MA, on July 31, 2007. She returned to Newburyport for the 18th Annual WCRC 5K Cross Country Turkey Trot, on November 22, 2007, but not before she competed in the Apple Harvest Run 5-Miler, which was held in nearby West Newbury, MA, on October 7, 2007. Julie’s times for these events were very good, and she plans on ramping up her level of competition in the coming race season. The fitness required for competitive foot races is nothing to scoff at, and Julie Carretero takes her active, healthy lifestyle very seriously. In order to be a worthwhile competitor, she knows that one has to balance their physical well being against a job that is satisfying and a manageable workload. Ms. Carretero took her undergraduate degree in American History from the highly respected liberal arts school at William Smith College, in Geneva, New York. William Smith operates in conjunction with Hobart College under the collective banner The Colleges of the Seneca (so named due to the campus’ location on the shores of the largest of New York’s Finger Lakes). She presently resides in New Jersey.
