Author, wine enthusiast, stumbling runner, aching yogini, Julie began writing fiction in 2011. Her work has appeared in the anthologies Up, Do: Flash Fiction by Women Writers, Three Minus One: Stories of Love and Loss, Flash of Fiction 2013, Stories for Sendai, and featured in the literary journals Emerge, Mud Season Review, Cobalt, River Poets Journal , Cirque: A Literary Journal of the North Pacific Rim and featured on the podcast No Extra Words. Her stories have been shortlisted for the New Millennium Writings Award for Fiction, the Santa Fe Writers Project Literary Award for Fiction, and awarded First Place by Short Story Competition HQ.

Her first novel, IN ANOTHER LIFE, debuted February 2016 (Sourcebooks). Inspired by the Cathar Crusade, IN ANOTHER LIFE is set in present day and 13th century Languedoc.

Her second novel, THE CROWS OF BEARA, is set in contemporary Co. Cork, southwest Ireland and was named a finalist for the Siskiyou Prize for New Environmental Literature, judged by PEN/Faulkner author and Man Booker Award nominee Karen Joy Fowler. THE CROWS OF BEARA will launch September 2017 (Ashland Creek Press).

Her third novel, UPSIDE-DOWN GIRL, is in its infancy and will transport the reader to the east coast of New Zealand.

Julie offers writing workshops, writer coaching services, and freelance developmental editing to aspiring and published authors.

A native of the Pacific Northwest, Julie makes her home on the tip of a peninsula where the Salish Sea meets the Puget Sound.
