Julie Conquest
Julie Conquest is presently completing a PhD in Design Anthropology at the University of Texas at Austin. "What is Design Anthropology," you ask? Design Anthropology is design that is informed by the ethnographic and fieldwork methods of Anthropology. It recognizes that all design: from conceptual to product design is most successful when cognizant of the so-called "human factor" (what people feel, think, do).
Previously Julie has developed digital storytelling programs for children and adults throughout Oakland, California, worked in independent film distribution in New York City, and orchestrated film festivals internationally. She began study of the visual arts in Amsterdam.
Her research interests include: mulit-sensory, collaborative ethnography, interactivity, and affect. When she is not doing serious things she is a fish. When she is not a fish she is building lamps and mobiles. One day she will have a cabin near the sea that smells of sun, sage, and lavender.
