Julie Lea is the Founder and CEO of the Mystic Krewe of Nyx, the Krewe of Pandora, and the NOLA Nyxettes. With a long history in supervisory/leadership roles and a proven ability to found successful organizations from the ground up, Julie is dedicated to creating positive impacts of a niche within her community.

Today, the Mystic Krewe of Nyx stands as the largest parading organization in Mardi Gras history. Julie Lea founded this one on simple idea: create something fun to do with her close group of female friends that was different from most run-of-the-mill social activities. Julie decided to pave her own path after every other all-female krewe at the time was full.

Since that time, the Mystic Krewe of Nyx has steadily grown its impact as a mainstay not just in the parade, but in the community. In 2013, Julie Lea extended the sisterhood of the Krewe of Nyx by overseeing the formation of the Nola Nyxettes, the first dancing troupe born out of a Mardi Gras Krewe. In 2015, Julie launched The Krewe of Pandora, the Mystic Krewe of Nyx’s “sister krewe” in Jefferson Parish.

Throughout her personal life, Julie Lea has dedicated much of her time to the city of New Orleans as a whole. She has been awarded the Key to the City of New Orleans six times, and has earned New Orleans City Council Proclamations twice. She holds a number of community partnerships, with organizations spanning causes such as disease research and treatment, transformational learning, criminal justice, and more.
