Julie Lockyer
I am a Chartered Clinical Psychologist registered with the British Psychological Society and The Health Professionals Council.
After 17 years of practice in public and private sectors in both the UK and South Africa I now run my private practice in Weybridge, Surrey and in the London Bridge area. I am skilled in a variety of therapeutic modalities and work eclectically, my therapeutic orientation is tailored towards my clients needs. I enjoy working collaboratively with my client and other professionals involved in their journey of care.
My primary work is within the CBT and systemic framework. My breadth of experience means that I am skilled in working with general life problems for example depression, anxiety, relationship issues and adjustment problems and also with more complex difficulties like PTSD, OCD, psychosis, Eating disorders, chronic depression and anxiety.
I work with adolescents, adults and couples.
I have a specialist interest in infertility and post-natal depression and I enjoy working with clients who have been through change or transition. My focus is on helping clients through the difficulties associated with major life changes and stressors and being able to grow through this process. I worked for nine years as a senior psychologist in a large Inner London Mental Health Trust working within a Community Mental Health Team as well a Co-ordinated Psychological Treatments Service. I have worked in a private capacity and have developed and led an Employee Assistance Program with an international company. My special interest in infertility is helping clients through the emotional process of the infertility journey and with decision making through the journey. I have been a member of an Ethics commitee at a large fertility clinic and was a consulting psychologist for gamete donation, egg sharing and surrogacy.
I am a passionate and dedicated psychologist. I strongly value working together with my clients to develop different coping strategies and an understanding as to why they struggle with certain areas of their lives. I place emphasis on confidentiality in the process. I feel very privileged to work with people going through such difficult periods in their lives.
