Julie McIntyre
Student and Athlete in Seward, Nebraska
My name is Julie McIntyre and I am from Chicago, Illinois. I am a currently a Junior at Concordia Nebraska University studying Recreation and Sport Studies. I also run cross country and track here at Concordia and I have been an avid runner since Freshman year of high school and have had some success as a runner throughout high school and college. I love traveling, spending time with friends and family, and playing sports/doing physical activity. Even though I primarily focus on running now, I played several other sports growing up including softball, soccer, and swimming and have always had a passion for sports. Some job experience I have had throughout the years includes working at Dunkin', working at the fitness center at Trinity Christian College (college I transferred from), and working as a desk attendant at Beverly Ridge Country Club in Chicago, IL. From those jobs, I have gained several strengths including customer service, skills in Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Word, multitasking, taking phone calls, working in a fast-paced environment, and dealing with a variety of challenges in the work place. I also have built up good time management skills while having to juggle classes, athletics, and jobs all at once. I am a hard worker and I work towards my goals and I am a good team worker. I am currently looking for a job or an internship more related to the field I am studying to gain more knowledge and experience. I have some weaknesses when trying to be creative and think outside the box and when trying to be assertive. I can use some work on communication skills as well. I want to strengthen these areas specifically so that I can be a leader in the profession I go into. I am always willing to learn and to be better. I hope to one day get the opportunity to earn my MBA after obtaining my undergrad degree. It plan to apply to graduate assistant positions after I graduate to get my masters and gain coaching experience. My overall goal would be to one day possibly coach college level cross country and track. Other areas I would look to get a job would be in athletic administration, sport coordination, etc. I have my mind and possibilities open.
