About Julie McNeice
Professional Life
Julie lived thirty-two years in Northern Canada before moving to ten acres of what remains of the family farm, nestled in the Pembina Hills, in Southern Manitoba in 2006.
Julie left home when she was sixteen years old, first moving to Thompson, Manitoba for a year, then to Northwestern Ontario (Nipigon and Nakina) until moving to Churchill, Manitoba in 1975. She spent 1 1/2 years in Churchill and started working for the Government of the Northwest Territories in their Finance Department. When they offered her a Clerk III position in Rankin Inlet, NWT – they’re new headquarters, she accepted and moved to Rankin.
Julie worked in Rankin Inlet from 1976 to 1984, first as Accounting Supervisor in the Department of Finance, then as Office Manager in the Department of Public Works. In 1984 Julie accepted a position as Assessor with the Workers Compensation Board of the NWT in Yellowknife. She worked for the WCB until 1988 and then accepted the position of Administrator with the Department of Transportation, Engineering Division where she worked until 1997. In 1997 Julie accepted an offer of layoff, thus enabling her to complete a university degree.
In September 1997 Julie temporarily moved to Winnipeg, Manitoba to complete an undergraduate degree at the University of Winnipeg in Conflict Resolution. The main thrust of her courses was in Academic English, Advanced Research, Alternate Dispute Resolution, and the Philosophy of Law.
Next Julie attended Royal Roads University in Victoria, British Columbia where she completed a master’s degree in Leadership and Training. Coursework again included Advanced Research Studies, Appreciative Inquiry, Systems Thinking, Change Management, and others.
Julie currently lives in Southern Manitoba, on 10 acres of what's left of the family farm nestled in the Pembina Hills south of Morden.
