Julien Béranger
Developer Relations Engineer in Paris, France
I was born and raised in Paris, France. In 2009, I completed a Degree in Chinese Studies (Philosophy, Literature and Arts) at INALCO (National Institute for Oriental Languages and Civilizations). I was then a Chinese teacher in several high schools for five years. This has been a very enriching experience, especially at Saigon French International Highschool in Vietnam.
The first time I heard about Bitcoin was in 2011. I started to test it and design several decentralized apps from April 2013.
I worked for an iOS payment app as a sales and community outreach, and we had the chance to discover Vitalik's Ethereum white paper in December 2013.
In 2014, I joined the marketing team of OpenClassrooms, one of the leading e-learning companies in Europe. I set up the Customer Service from scratch, handling more than 1,000 requests a week.
I led the crowdsale campaign of iExec: we raised 10,000 BTC on April 19, 2017 ($12 m eq. back then). I was iExec Head of Communications on this project for about 3 years.
I'm the founder of Strat, which mission is to amplify the Web3 movement. I taught Marketing Strategy at EM Lyon, one of the most reputed business schools in France. I gave a hand at kickstarting Interlude, and other gaming projects.
I'm a volunteer at Emmaüs Connect, an organisation focusing on digital inclusion, and I also contribute on several different projects as a Web3 hacker (Solidity, ReactJS, and TypeScript mainly), including Concord: a new form of DAO controlled from Discord. The project is developed under the good care of All for Climate DAO. We won the 1st prize at the DAO Global Hackathon.
In 2020, I co-founded Āto which provides top-level IP licenses for NFTs and makes legal easy for the whole Web3 community. I've built several NFT-related apps used by artists, auction houses and fine art galleries.
I co-founded the W3HC (Web3 Hackers Collective), a DAO that focuses on Web3 integrations, mentoring and learning. I'm developing Gov, a DAO framework built with the standard Governor contract in combination with ERC-721, and I also work on the gCFA project, a crypto version of the CFA Franc, a currency used in 14 African countries (DeFi/stablecoin). I regularly host mentoring, live coding, and ‘build-in-public’ sessions.
More recently, I joined the Arthera team as a Developer Relations Engineer.
