Julie Sikes-Speir

I love libraries... a sizable portion on my childhood was spent in public or school libraries and in the pages of those borrowed books. Much of my education came not from the classroom but from the library and the treasures I discovered there. I developed a love of history as it came to life in the historical fiction books that I came to love.
I have a B.A. in Art and Design and a MAT from LaGrange College. Presently, I am six hours away from completing my Library and Information Science degree at the University of Alabama. While completing my education, I have operated a fine art studio and taught private piano and art lessons as well as classes in photography and art history. I am seeking a library position preferably in an academic library environment. I am planning on acquiring a Digital Library Specialist certification next year.
My extensive liberal arts background, my creative abilities, and my teaching experience will be great assets in a library setting. I am progressive and am always dedicated to making a positive impact in all my endeavors.
