I'm a writer — mostly of fiction. and sometimes juicy reporting projects that draw on my 13 years as a cultural + political reporter.

When I'm not doing that, I work intensively with writers, helping them finalize their drafts and stay on the rails.
I offer:

• critique of full or partial manuscripts, fiction + nonfiction
• accountability for the writing practice

As one of the faculty for manuscript critique at Murphy Writing, I have worked with dozens of authors to finish, revise, or polish their works-in-progress.

I also believe in accountability that keeps writers on track. I can build an accountability practice with you - entirely customized to your writing goals and schedule.

After 20+ years as a working writer, I often share that what I always hoped is true: The actual process of writing can feel achievable, consistent, inspired.

More about me:

For 13+ years, I worked as a cultural and political reporter. My work has appeared in The Glasgow Herald (Scotland, U.K.), The Bergen Record (N.J.), WPRB Princeton, and the Philadelphia City Paper, among others. Today, I work directly with authors and students at Murphy Writing of Stockton University, where I host weekly write-in workshops, help run retreats, and serve as faculty for manuscript critique.

Until 2013, I served as the statehouse bureau reporter for the Bergen Record. I use my skills as a state-government scalpel for clients focused on transparency, accountable government, and evidence-based policy. I consult on these issues.
