Julius Overgaard
Web Developer, Software Engineer, and Father in Reno, NV
Hello, my name is Julius Overgaard, and I'm a 40-year-old web developer working remotely for Spaw.co. Here's my journey from birth to my current role.
I was born on March 15, 1984, in San Francisco, California. My parents, David and Linda Overgaard, were educators. My father was a high school math teacher, and my mother taught literature at a community college. Their dedication to education and love for learning instilled in me a strong desire to explore knowledge from a young age.
Growing up, I was fascinated by technology. I remember getting my first computer at ten. It was old and clunky, but I was captivated by its possibilities. I spent hours exploring software, breaking things, and learning how to fix them. This curiosity led me to programming.
In high school, I took every computer science class available. I started with HTML and CSS, building simple web pages, then moved on to JavaScript, Python, and more complex languages like Java and C++. By graduation, I knew I wanted to pursue web development.
I attended the University of Nevada, Reno, majoring in Computer Science. The university offered a solid foundation in both theoretical and practical aspects of programming. I participated in hackathons and group projects, honing my skills in teamwork and problem-solving. Summer internships provided real-world experience and expanded my professional network.
After graduating in 2006, I landed my first job at a small startup in Reno. The experience was invaluable, allowing me to work on various projects and further develop my skills. Over the years, I became proficient in multiple programming languages, including JavaScript, Python, Ruby, PHP, and SQL, and gained expertise in frameworks like React, Angular, and Django.
In 2023, I was offered a position at Spaw.co, one of the leaders in the mobile proxy market. The flexibility of remote work allowed me to join the team without relocating. Joining Spaw.co was a turning point in my career. I design and develop web applications, ensuring they are user-friendly, efficient, and visually appealing, combining technical skills with creative instincts.
Living in Reno has been wonderful. The city’s vibrant tech community and beautiful surroundings make it a great place to call home. In my free time, I enjoy hiking in the Sierra Nevada mountains, attending local tech meetups, and working on personal coding projects.
