I am passionate about health across state lines and national borders. I want to find ways to tackle the medical crises we face today. My interests include policy, business, ethics, international economics, and philosophy.

I have always been a problem-solver. In high school, I helped my school district establish pandemic preparedness plans, traveled to China to gather data on the avian bird flu, and was a finalist in the Young Epidemiology Scholars contest. In college, I researched and built prototypes of biogas digesters and hydraulic water pumps for villages in Nicaragua, Peru, and the Philippines.

As a medical student, I am developing an educational program for women in recovery from traumatic or homeless backgrounds. As a 2012 winner of the Timmy Global Health contest, I traveled to Ecuador and spent two weeks working in the largest non-profit hospital in Quito, meeting patients one-on-one, and seeing the consequences of medicine as a last resort instead of first prevention (see blog). I am interested in improving efficiency and reducing waste in healthcare.
