Justin Arbuckle is a technology executive with 30 years' experience leading large-scale digital transformation in regulated, mission-critical environments. He builds technology functions that deliver measurable outcomes at scale — establishing platforms, data capabilities and operating models that enable organisations to move faster while meeting the highest standards of resilience, security and governance.

He is currently Global Head of Enterprise Platforms and Practices at Schroders, responsible for architecture, cloud, data platforms and engineering practices across all business lines, with a focus on AI-enabled engineering productivity and federated governance.

Previously, as Managing Director and CTO of Wealth and Personal Banking at HSBC, he built and led a global technology function of 1,500+ staff across 52 markets, delivering multi-cloud platforms, enterprise data capabilities and conversational banking services to tens of millions of customers. At Scotiabank, he created PLATO — a 600-person platform utility operating as a software company inside the bank — and led the institution to become the first Canadian bank to release open source software.

As VP at CHEF Software, he built a transformation consulting practice for regulated industries that became the company's most profitable service line globally.

Given the increasing impact of AI, Justin believes the critical role of the technology leader is no longer to develop technology - as we have done for decades - but to enable the continuous learning and evolution of the organisation in order to exploit the advances now made at an increasing rate.

Justin is a recognised thought leader and keynote speaker at, among others, Google Cloud Next, Microsoft Ignite and Bloomberg, and has worked as an executive across four continents in over 40 countries.
